Works aimed at forming the new Board of Trustees of Ayb School
The works of forming the new Board of Trustees of Ayb School began in June (in the second quarter of the year) and lasted until August.
During that time period, Ayb Club members, according to the procedure, nominated candidates and then had meetings and conversations with them to introduce the nature and main directions, the challenges and achievements of Ayb School Board of Trustees’ activity. The candidates, in their turn, shared their experience and talked about their activities, offering solutions on different issues and presenting their approaches to the BoT’s work. The conversations were substantial and efficient, laying foundations for new collaboration and reinforcing the already established ones.
The process ended in secret ballot, which resulted in formation of a new Board of Trustees of Ayb School, composed of 7 members.

Admission of Students and Teachers to the Military and Sports College after Monte Melkonyan
Ayb community, represented by the Club members, holds an active position regarding implementation of various projects in the field of education in Armenia, including new strategic initiatives, such as the Military and Sports College after Monte Melkonyan.
For this purpose, in the framework of cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the RA, back in 2016 Ayb Club members joined the process of restructuring the Military and Sports College after Monte Melkonyan. Already in the third quarter of 2017 they conducted the process of admitting new students to the college, holding interviews with the applicants together with the Ministry of Defense of the RA. The Club members also took an active part in the process of selecting (interviewing) the teaching staff of the college.
Besides, during this quarter, by decision of the Ministry of Defense of the RA, the new foundation named “Military and Sports College after Monte Melkonyan” was established and all powers of the existing college were transferred to it. A Board of Trustees was appointed as the supreme governing body of the new foundation. By approval of the Minister of Defense of the RA, three representatives of Ayb community – Aram Pakhchanian, Sona Koshetsyan, and Fr. Mesrop Aramian – also became members of it.
We would like to remind that starting from September 1, 2017, the college students are trained based on the educational program developed jointly with the Ayb Educational Foundation.
Three-Day Events of Ayb Club
Ayb considers that its mission is to continue the work of Holy Translators Mesrop Mashtots and Sahak Partev. Therefore, the Feast of the Holy Translators is among the most important holidays for the community. Twice a year, the Club members gather in Yerevan from different corners of the world to attend the three-day events organized within the framework of the full session of Ayb Club Executive Board, timed to the two Feasts of the Holy Translators, which, according to the church calendar, were celebrated in June and October this year.
Following the three-day June events of Ayb Club, a brief report on the events was prepared in August, covering the results of the ardent activities and exciting occurrences that took place from June 23 to June 25.
Right after summarizing the results of the June events, the preparatory works for the October events of Ayb Club started. Within the framework of the October events, one of the most vivid events of this year for Ayb occurred ― the official opening ceremony of the new building of Ayb School and, certainly, according to tradition, working meetings, family gatherings, and community events were held.
On October 14, the official opening ceremony of the new, third (C) building of Ayb School took place. The event was attended by RA President Serzh Sargsyan, Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan, other high-ranking officials, Ayb Club members, the school benefactors and supporters, and, of course, the whole community.
The festive ceremony began with the performance of Ayb School choir, followed by the speeches of Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ayb School Fr. Mesrop Aramian, and the rite of blessing of building C. Throughout the day, the students of the school were adorning the event with their performances and bringing together all attendants around a folk dance.
The school’s BoT Chairman and one of the youngest students festively opened the entrance to the new building of the school by cutting the traditional orange ribbon. The Club members, together with the RA President and guests, made a tour of the new school building, then gathered in the inner courtyard of the school to congratulate one another and have a talk, enjoying light refreshments.
Among community events, traditional Ayb Games should be mentioned along with the small gathering that was called “Ayb School – 7 Years Later” and aroused warm memories.
This year, Ayb community was brought together already for the 5th anniversary of Ayb Games, enjoying an October Sunday together. Traditionally, the Games start with the solemn oath ceremony of new community members – students and teachers. The newcomers are officially admitted to Ayb big family by the representatives of all our communities, from students and graduates to teachers, from the Club members and parents to the school management.
From early morning till the end of the day, competitive and non-competitive games were held in parallel. In the middle of the day one of the most beloved traditions of the community took place – the blessing of harissa, after which people gather together to taste the delicious food and have a little rest from the fuss of games.
Details of the event are available in Ayb School section.
On June 25, 2010, Ayb Club members, benefactors and friends, together with the Ayb Foundation team and volunteers, gathered on the school’s land to celebrate the start of a new project, to propose toasts and get acquainted with one another. Exactly seven years ago, they wrote on paper their ideas about the school of their dream. They were writing, believing in accomplishment of those dreams and directing all their positive energy to attaining the target. Their letters have been kept in the Ayb Foundation’s office for all these years with the signature stamp “Confidential.”
Seven years later, on October 15, 2017, many of the authors gathered in Ayb School to open the envelopes officially, to read their dreams written in the letters, to experience once again the memories of the past and compare them with today’s Ayb School.
Ayb Mentorship Program
In the framework of the Mentorship Program, this semester was rich in research and analytical work, based on which the strategy and plan for the next year will be developed.
One of the most important orientations of the Program was the establishment of the youth community ― Ayb Alumni Club, and regulation of its activity.
The works of developing Ayb Alumni Club’s charter began in September. In October, the project was presented at the meeting organized within the framework of the full session of Ayb Club Executive Board. In the course of the meeting, the project was initially approved by the Club; speeches were held encouraging continuation of active work and readiness to support was declared.
The works of developing Ayb Alumni Club’s charter will be finalized in 2018.
Community members at Lake Sevan within the scope of Ayb Military Field Camp
During the field camp at Lake Sevan in July and August, Ayb Alumni Club organized an exciting and educational game ― a quest, for the high school students. Both quests were fully designed and conducted by the graduates who got positive feedback from their younger friends and gave another opportunity for cheerful team work and for applying their knowledge in an entertaining way.
Attaching high importance to the initial military and medical training as part of the curriculum, Ayb Club members always participate in the military field camp organized in summer. The Teaching Team
Since the beginning of the academic year, the Alumni Club has been actively cooperating with the school teachers, forming a teaching team and getting involved in educational processes. The team includes graduates with great interest in training, wishing to try themselves in this area and gain new knowledge and skills.
About 18 graduates of Ayb School collaborate with 14 school teachers, assisting them in the process of teaching seven different subjects.

Visit to Vahe Karapetyan Center
The members of Ayb Alumni Club initiated a visit to Vahe Karapetyan Center, where 25 students enrolled to the 10th grade of Ayb School through regional admission are accommodated.
The classmates of the students living in the Center joined the alumni for the visit. All students made acquaintance and communicated with great enthusiasm. The alumni told about their school memories, giving advice to their younger friends, and the students told about today’s school, their lessons, teachers, and interests. Hot tea, table games, sincere conversations, and hearts full of warmth. The evening was a success.
